Ashley Priest, Assistant Principal

a priestHi! I am Ashley Priest. I am thrilled to be the assistant principal at Highfalls Elementary K-8 school! I cannot wait to lead, coach, and collaborate with Highfalls’ teachers, students, families, and the community. I have spent my entire educational career in Moore County Schools. I taught 2nd and 4th grade at Carthage Elementary before taking the leap to teach STEM to K-5 students across Moore County.
My past roles in education have helped me in becoming a school administrator, obtaining my bachelor’s degree from Grand Valley State University, and my master’s degree in School Administration from the University of North Carolina at Pembroke. I completed my internship for school administration in Moore County Schools. I have also served as a Kenan Fellow, bringing relevant STEM careers to middle school students for the Boys and Girls Club of the Sandhills. I have coached and led teachers in educational technology, and I am passionate about leading teachers and students to innovative and collaborative approaches in learning. I believe all students should be equipped to become successful citizens and problem solvers that prepare them for future skills of Collaboration, Communication, Creativity, and Critical Thinking.

I grew up in Ohio and Michigan. I came to North Carolina to start my teaching career, and never left! I married my husband this past spring, and we live off a farm in Carthage. I love to travel, camp, spend time with my family, and run in my spare time. I am proud to be a Highfalls Eagle, and I look forward to the 2020-2021 school year!
