MFLC Support

Schools with significant military-connected student populations offer Child and Youth Behavioral Military Family Life Counselor (CYB-MFLC) support in partnership with Fort Bragg. CYB-MFLCs are not Moore County Schools employees but are contracted through Fort Bragg Child and Youth Services (CYS).

If you would like your child to be elligible for MLFC support, please complete the MFLC Consent Form and return it to your child's campus. MFLCs cannot accept electronic/emailed forms so you will need to provide the original copy to the school prior to services being delivered.

Child and Youth Behavioral Military and Family Life Counselors (CYB-MFLC)

Child and Youth Behavioral Military and Family Life Counselors (CYB-MFLC) provide support to military children for a variety of issues, including low self-esteem, behavioral problems and changes at home. These counselors, who are part of the Military and Family Life Counseling Program, understand the issues military children face and can be especially helpful during challenging periods, including deployments and PCS moves. CYB-MFLCs in Moore County Schools offer students one-on-one and small group support on designated campuses.

The licensed counselors in the CYB-MFLC Program address:
• Self-esteem issues
• Communication and relationships at home and school
• Life skills, such as problem solving and adjustment
• Behavioral issues, including bullying and anger management
• Changes at home, such as deployment, reunion, divorce and grief

Conversations in these sessions stay between your child and his or her counselor. Services are private and confidential with the exception of child abuse/neglect, domestic abuse and other duty-to-warn situations.

Eligibility

Childern of Active Duty or AGR Service Members are elligible for MFLC services. Surviving children are also eligible to participate in school based group support and one-on-one services. If you would like your child to be elligible for MLFC support, please complete the MFLC Consent Form and return it to your child's campus.

Virtual Services Delivery Due to COVID-19

Due to the COVID-19 worldwide pandemic, MFLCs and Child and Youth Behavioral MFLCs (CYB-MFLCs) will be able to temporarily provide VTC (Video Teleconference) services to your military community. These services include video non-medical counseling in areas where face-to-face support is restricted due to COVID-19. Services will be delivered in the following manner:

Support for Adults: Video non-medical counseling
Support for Children and Youth:
• Individual video non-medical counseling sessions for minors age 13 to 17 (parent or guardian must be available at the start of each video session to give parental consent and provide line of sight requirements)
• Family video non-medical counseling for minors 6 to 12 years of age (parent or guardian must attend each session)
